  • What Image size should I create to span across 3 projectors

Posted by Mary Gerber on April 11, 2023 at 7:00 pm

    Greetings all,

I have an event space with a stage that has 3 projectors and 3 screens. The 3 screens are right next to each other with very little gap. One of the reasons for this design was to be able to project one image across all 3 screens. It is hardwired to make this happen and I’ve seen it work but I don’t know how big the image needs to be to correctly project.

Can I use a 1920×1200 resolution? or do I have to multiply that by 3? That is the resolution of the projectors.

Can anyone guide me on this please?

    Thank you!

    Hey mary,

To correctly project an image across all 3 screens, it is important to consider the resolution of the projectors and the size of the screens. Using a 1920×1200 resolution may be sufficient, but it ultimately depends on the size of the screens and the distance between the projectors and the screens. Multiplying the resolution by 3 may not necessarily be the best approach. It is important to consult with an expert in video projection or a professional AV company to determine the ideal resolution and settings for your specific setup. They can also provide advice on any necessary adjustments to ensure the best image quality and clarity across all 3 screens

    Hello there,

To span an image across all three projectors and screens in your event space, you’ll want to create an image that matches the combined resolution of the three screens. In your case, if each projector has a resolution of 1920×1200, you’ll need to create an image that’s three times as wide as a single projector’s resolution because you want to cover all three screens side by side.

So, you would need an image with a resolution of 5760×1200 (1920×3 for width and 1200 for height) to correctly span across all three projectors and screens. This will ensure that your image fills the entire display area without any gaps.

Keep in mind that it’s essential to maintain the aspect ratio (in this case, 16:3) to prevent distortion when the image is stretched across the three screens. So, make sure your content is designed in this wide format to achieve the desired effect.

I hope this helps, and your event goes off without a hitch!
