What happens with FCPX plugins and folders if I reinstall it manually?
Hello guys
Could you help me on this doubt? If I reinstall a late version of FCPX manually, using an installer (not by apple store), what happens with my folders, projects and plugins? Is there any chance to lose anything or have any problems and bugs with FCPX doing like this?

It shouldn’t, depends on who made the installer. If you’re manually installing, you shouldn’t need an installer, you can just copy over the app. If you want to be sure, rename or move any Final Cut Events and Final Cut Projects on your hard drives, and make a zip of your Motion Templates folder in your movies folder so that you can restore just in case.

Just to reinforce this – the way FCP-X works, virtually everything about it is REFERENTIAL. Which is simply to say the engine (the program itself) is one thing and all the files that make up your project are separate things.
You should be backing up your projects and events regularly because THEY are where all your edit decisions, assets and work live. The program is just the engine that enables their creation and manipulation.
So updating X no matter HOW you do it should never actually damage any of your data files. The only thing to keep in mind is like with most software, version progress is typically expected to be forward. Which is to say if you install an older version of the program and try to open the files made by a newer version, you can expect problems. The usual path, opening older files with NEWER versions of the software is typically expected and supported.
Learn the MOVE command under the X system and make backups to your finished projects and anything in progress that’s critical and you actual Program updates should never be a problem.
Also, if you own X via the App store, you always have the ability to re-install if anything goes wrong and the App Store versions will ALWAYS be the latest one.
