  • What format should I render in If I am putting the project on a DVD?

We made a short company video that we want to send out to perspective customers. What format would be best to render it in? Something that would be somewhat universal and could be played in anything from a DVD player in a computer to a home DVD player.

DVD requires MPEG2 formatted files. Use any of the MPEG2 DVD templates in Vegas.

I have rendered it in both MPEG1 and MPEG2. I can’t seem to get it to play in a standard house hold DVD player. It works fine on any computers DVD player. I feel like I am missing something?

Were you using DVD Architect or another DVD authoring program or were you just copying the files onto a DVD disc? You have to author a DVD to get it to play in a standard DVD player. This lays down the correct disc formats. Without authoring software, you can’t make a video DVD.

We rendered it right from Sony Vegas into a MPEG2 format. From there should we be using an authoring program such as DVD Architect?
By the way John, I greatly appreciate your help.

Yes. Otherwise you’ll just be making a data storage DVD. Similar to the difference between an audio CD and a data CD.
