sorry if this is not forum appropriate –
our compact and inexpensive DYMO Discpainter finally broke and we are in the market for a decent DVD labeler for clients.
Most of the printers I see out there are above $1000! We are a 3 edit room post house, so rarely doing very large DVD orders. any suggestions?

Epson inkjet printers are still the most cost efficient way to print good looking discs, though they do just one at a time.

Try printing on the silver inkjet printable Taiyo Yuden DVDs, they’re beautiful with an almost holographic look.

There are a couple of Epson printers that had a disc tray that would do one at a time. The Artisan 50 is hard to get, and may be out of production. There is also the Stylus R2000, or Stylus 1400. These are also hard to get, and the ink cost per disc is pretty high, and they are OK for a few here and there. But they will wear out pretty quick if you are doing more than a handful per week. If you’re doing any type of duplication work considering ink cost, labor, and longevity you need something like the Primera Bravo. Other options would be to go with Lightscribe, which is much slower, and LS discs are more expensive and you end up with more coasters. The other option is to farm out larger print jobs.
