A long time ago I put up a post about having issues with my future job. I got some great replys and It made me think a lot…I wanted to show some of my work at the time but had difficulty in getting some of it up at first (due to time constraints and web issues with my computer), im ending my sophomore year in college and I had time to put one composition up to show for it!
This was for my 2D animation class…we use after effects a lot and for this particular project I had to make a quick logo composition for my name (NHUR-Nate Hurwitz).
This took me a few days but came out pretty good, I started out with some footage of a ripple effect (which I got royalty for free)…it was very grainy though when I enlarged the scale size of it, so I blurred it and put a glow effect on it to highlight the ripples. I also animated a four color gradient that was displaced over the ripple footage. The water fill footage I found in motion so I used that and tinted it blue.
My friend was used as a model for the silloutte and we went for 15 min against a bluescreen for the model footage.
The beam was the beam effect (of course!) on a new layer, I combined this with a lense flare effect on another layer to get the quick flash you see comming out of the model when he points his fingers.
The explosion was just a sparkle effect in motion i rendered to the right size which seemed to work well.
Let me know what you guys think! This is my first time showing some of my work on this forum…
