  • What conditions prevent photopshop *.psd file being dropped into vegas

Running Vegas Pro 10 under win7 64 bit

Are there some known conditions which prevent certain Photopshop format *.psd files from being dropped or imported into vegas?

I have a curious situation where I’ve done some work in a tool called `Xara designer pro’, assembled 4 images into a simple collage, exported it to Photoshop format, opened it in photoshop and cropped it,saving back to the same name and format (*.psd).

I’ve done several of these, and had no trouble loading them into vegas, but now one of the same set will not load.

I redid it from scratch through all the steps listed above. The second effort failed in the same way. Vegas tells me, `None of the files dropped on vegas could be opened’.

Looking at the problematic file and the one right before I see they are very similar in size and in dimensions and done with the same steps.

If I save it out of Xara as *png instead of psd format, it loads with no problems.

How can I determine what the problem is?

The only times I’ve had issues with graphics files and Vegas is when they were saved in CMYK format.
Changing it to RGB always solved my problems.

I’ve also had a problem when the psd file contains duplicate layer names.
