  • What are the best HD settings on the HPX171

Posted by Deleted User on September 15, 2011 at 10:18 pm

Hi – I am shooting outside tomorrow and have had the HPX171 for over a year. I am still trying to get to grips with the camera and its capabilities. I want to shoot in the best that the camera can offer and feel I haven’t been able to do so yet.

I intend to shoot 1080 25p (PAL) tomorrow.

Any suggestions on different settings etc as to make my footage look really good? Or should I try different settings than 1080 25p?

(I will edit on Sony Vegas 9.0)

    Thanks for your time.

    There is no best.

Take your camera outside and connect it via HD-SDI or Component to a good monitor. Play with your scene file settings until you find a look you like. Save that scene file for future reference.

Download the scene file settings from Panasonic’s website for some looks. They are mainly indoor settings.

Thanks Steve. I can’t afford a monitor – I do have a laptop though. Can I connect it to a laptop monitor via firewire?

I am on holiday this week and I really should do this. Although, in Scotland, it’s pretty difficult to get a day of good weather. We get the four seasons in one day sometimes! Haha
