what are the benfits of owning Decklink HD
I want to know what are the benfits of owning Decklink HD basic VS the other HD decklink cards.
not doing HD yet but will getting into it soon. I will move my decklink extreme out ans put in the basic decklink HD card????please let me know what will the basic Decklink HD card give me and what it will not.
I edit in FCP ,Vfx in Combustion, Graphics in AERon

Well, you could start by taking a look at this comparison chart:
https://www.decklink.com/products/hd/specs/The basic HD board will let you edit 4:2:2 HD, up to 1920×1080 resolution. And SD of course.
It’s ‘basic’ because it only has digital I/O. It’s got SDI video out, no analog outputs. So you’ll need a video monitor with SDI inputs.
The Decklink HD Pro has analog video output, separate digital audio inputs, etc.
So you could edit HD with the basic model, if you already have the right I/O and converters in your studio.

Maybe this should be a new post but It’s kindof along the same line. I just purchased a HD Pro single link. I’m trying to monitor(temporarily) to a standard TV with RCA Component inputs should I just get a BNC to RCA cable? I tried one but I don’t appear to be recieving any signal from the DeckLink card.

If you are doing HD work get the HD Pro Single Link as minimum.
You can then use the the HD Pro’s analogue HD output to drive a Plasma, Projector or the JVC HD CRT.
