    Hey guys!

First of all, Happy New Year to everyone!!

Anyways, I’m just wondering, what are movies shot with? Are movies still being shot with film or is it all digital? And I just read that films can easily be converted into hd because it has more pixels than digital and film is way more superior than digital. Can anyone share their knowledge with me?

    Thanks!

[Justin Leyba] “Anyways, I’m just wondering, what are movies shot with? Are movies still being shot with film or is it all digital? “

I would venture to guess that most are still shot on film but ever since George Lucas shot Starwars I on digital, the industry has taken notice and have been moving in that direction. It will probably take a while to transform an entire industry but more and more new movies are shot in digital.

Since film is analog, it doesn’t really have a “resolution” but most 35 mm film is scanned and processed at 2K or 4K resolution and Vegas Pro supports both of these at the project level.

Note: I don’t work in film so this is just what I’ve read.
