I cannot get Premiere Pro to playback using the Blackmagic AVCHD 1080p sequence preset. the sequence plays for a few frames and then stops, no dropped frames warning (warning is turned on BTW) and playback res is set to 1/4

My single biggest issue with PPro is horrible playback capabilities. I know this is an issue with my situation because I have seen demos with comparable footage run just fine.

    sequence settings are below

    MBP 2.2Ghz i7
    8gb ram
    Lacie mini thunderbolt
BM Ultrastudio 3D thunderbolt in/SDI out

I dont usr BM (prefer AJA) but the first thing to do is make sure you are using the most current drivers.

I should have put that in my post. I am using BM Desktop Video 9.0.

This is not just a problem when using a BM sequence preset. I am experiencing inconsistant playback behavior overall and I would hate to have to re install the software because it took me 4 times of installing, uninstalling, and re installing CS5.5 before I was able to even open Premiere Pro without it crashing.

When troubleshooting that issue Adobe support basically confirmed that the software opened in the root user, which it did, so the rest is up to me to figure out.

The BM settings perform the worst out off all the sequence presets I have needed to use. Fortunately my workflow does not require me to use the BM settings all the time.

If it were AJA I would tell you to call their wonderful Tech Support. Thats one of many reasons I dont buy BM. Dont like their products or support. But that doesnt help you right at the moment.

If you are having problems with just Adobe sequences I suggest you recall Adobe support and ask specifically for Vinay who is extremely talented and helpful.

thanks for the lead. We use a mix here at the shop more so for connectivity than anything else. The BM US3d was purchased in place of the IoXT because it was available.

I think this is more of a system issue than a BM codec problem and I will hopefully get to the bottom of it sooner than later. I am just out of the starting gate in creating 52+ user tutorials for our products as well as marketing ect.

We’re on a Mac. Using a BMD card. Have the same issues.
Not to mention AME not completing an output if from a BMD sequence.

It’s sad that APP is not up to pro performance still after all these years.

I think the culprit here is BMD, not Adobe. I have a Kona 3 and with recent drivers I have had ZERO problems with playback or output thru AME.
    Just sayin….
