    Hi!
I’m working on a project with several 1-2 second shots of the same scene, so I was using one camera and I just keyframed it to change to the next shot instantly within 2 frames.
This caused a weird visual glitch when the shots changed, and it felt very uncomfortable.
So i did what most people would do; i tried to make the glitch disappear.
I ended up splitting the camera on the first frame, and then again at the second frame. I deleted the frame between the two of them, and i put the second frame ontop of where the first one was. Let me show you an illustration, because it may not be easy to understand:

This worked just fine until i noticed something; i can’t render one frame just about before the the second part of the split, or even ram-preview it at quarter quality. This occurs at every shot.
I tried moving around the frames and changing the overlap, but it doesn’t matter.
Can you tell me why this occurs, and if there is an easier way to solve it?

    Thanks for your time!

    Hi there,

Did you try changing the first keyframe to a Held keyframe? That should work, just right-click on the keyframe and choose “Toggle Hold Keyframe”. This will force the value to remain the same till the next keyframe.

    Hope this helps 🙂

    cheers,

    Angie

    Hi!

Thank you for your repsonses, but it didn’t solve my problems for some reason.
I tried using hold keyframes just as you suggested.
AE still can’t render the frame belonging to the hold keyframe. It renders the one before and after it just fine.
And now that i’m using this method i got another problem: the first frame of the second shot has some remnants of the first shot, like if i was fading out the first shot.
Here is a picture of the timeline of the shot in question:

I’m pretty sure i’m doing something wrong, i just can’t seem to find out what it is.

    Hi there,

If you want to leave gaps you could try selecting “Active Camera” – gaps will then render with a default camera.

    cheers,

    Angie
