weird streaking colors in the viewscreen and record mode
I have a Canon GL2 camcorder that is giving me green and magenta streaks in the viewscreen while in camera mode as well as while recording. The digital effects are off, and I can’t find this symptom in the troubleshooting guide. Has anyone else had this problem, and could you tell me what the issue is? Thanks.

You say you have “streaks in the viewscreen”…
Is that in the viewfinder only?… or do you see that in an external monitor as well, and are the streaks actually being recorded?… or do you just seem them on the camera’s screen?

It’s in both the viewfinder without a tape being loaded, and on the tape. I recorded a minutes worth of footage, and I’m getting it in the playback. I played back the video in both the camera and a seperate deck.

This is what both the view screen and video playback looks like. Any help at all would be hugely appreciated.

Does playback look like that on an external monitor? Is that a screen shot of actual captured video?
Either way, it’s one of the most severe things I’ve ever seen, for sure.

Yes. This is playback in both the GL2 as well as output monitor from the deck used for log and capture. What you’re seeing is a still from captured video using said deck and monitor.

Yikes, then sorry, I’m no help. I was thinking you just might have a display issue, which I thought I might be able to track down. Since it is actually being recorded that way, I dunno….
That’s one of the weirder things I have ever seen.
