Weird overlay cropping during render
Posted by Scott Sullivan on August 5, 2013 at 9:21 pmI have a picture that completely overlays a video – using the audio from the video as a voiceover.
The picture completely fills the screen in editing but when I render the picture is slightly cropped on the right and left sides showing the video underneath!
Render settings and still sample is here:
Anybody have any idea about this? This is really strange!

Not until you provide your Project Settings?
In the Render you are using a PAR of 1.212. Fine, but we don’t know your:
1] Project Settings PAR and Media fit to render option.
2] Media PAR
Until those 2 bits of info are available, then we are all in the dark and we’re left with guesswork.

August 6, 2013 at 4:34 pmI always match my Project Settings to my Media. Then when I render I make sure the Render takes into account the the Project settings so that I don’t get any errors.
You have:
Media with a PAR of 1.333
Project Settings set to a PAR of 1.000 (square)
Rendering to to a PAR of 1.212
If you don;t want those LEFT and RIGHT pilllars, somewhere in your workflow, you need to match-up the PAR.

August 6, 2013 at 4:42 pmThanks! What is the easiest way to go about matching? Change the project settings?

August 6, 2013 at 4:54 pmI tried changing the PAR at the project level but that just creates letterboxes in editing mode too.
I’ve never had this problem before. I have always been able to take media straight from my camera, pic overlay render etc. without this issue.
What am I doing wrong?

In the very top Right Corner of the Project Properties Menu, there’s a Match Media Settings icon – click on it. Navigate to the Media you are using and Select it. It says “Open” – but just select click Open.
Your Project will now Match your Media.
When that happens, make a screen shot of it and bring it back here.
