  • Weird audio panning issue on mono tracks

I have an interesting problem that I wonder if anyone has had or found a solution for:

I digitize from a tape on the mono audio (A1 only) setting. Or, actually I just have the single audio track highlighted in the capture window. When I play the clip back in only plays back through the left speaker. Even when I change the pan setting I can only get the clip to play back through the left speaker. The tab says its A1 only so it seems that the pan should work. (although, in the window there seems to be two red “volume” lines, which leads me to think the system thinks its a stereo track or something. However, when I drag the track to the timeline, it only brings a single (mono) track.

Now, when I physically move the track on my timeline from A1 to the A2 track, it plays only the right speaker. It seems like a simple pan issue, but as I said, when I modify the pan or center pan it or do anything, it continues to play out of the same speaker…

I’m on FCP 5.0.2 on Tiger 10.4.2 if that matters.

    Thanks!
