DV AVI is not uncompressed. DV25 is the compression codec that is being used. What you have after capture is interlaced PAL DV footage (regardless of what you shot on the Sony Z7).

It seems that you are causing this problem by changing the project defaults without knowing the consequences. You captured interlaced footage yet you set your project field order to none and set your deinterlaced method to none. Just use the defaults that Vegas provides.

Once again you have changed the default setting by changed the field order to none. You are seeing the interlacing because you told Vegas it was progressive footage when it wasn’t so it simply displays the interlace lines.

Try using the defaults: Set your project to PAL DV and don’t change any default settings. Render to PAL MPEG2 and don’t change any settings. Vegas will do the right thing by default.

when i render in vegas the endresult its the best that i ever see but i put the rendered file in DVD arhitect the result is not good
i can see the pixels like some interlace flicker

John will want to know how you are rendering it out of Vegas for import into DVDA. It should be as a DVDA compliant MPEG2 video stream and a separate AC3 audio stream. Also make sure that your bit rate is as high as the length of your project will allow. Use 8,000,000 CBR if you can. Anything much higher than that and some DVD players will have trouble. John will be along shortly to give you some EXPERT advice.

Is this just on your PC monitor or are you monitoring to an external NTSC or PAL monitor? If it’s on your PC monitor then have you burned a DVD to see how it looks? PC’s are not interlaced devices so you may see things that won’t be seen in the final DVD.

Also, if you have very small horizontal lines you may get interlace flicker. This is unavoidable because of the nature of interlaced video. A line that is the height of one field will only display half of the time and flicker on and off as a result.

Burn a DVD and see how it looks. That’s the true test.

but i see a dvd created by another videographer in my city how works with sony vegas 8 and dvd arhitect 4.5 and the dvd looking the same in TV and PC
how is this possible??
and another question is how is the original movies maked ???

If he is using a software DVD player on this PC to preview the DVD, it is doing the deinterlacing for him. Vegas will also deinterlace when you use your PC as a secondary monitor (although there is an option to turn this on and off)

If you mean “Hollywood” movies, they are shot on film at 24 fps and usually converted to DVD as 24p.

I testet my dvd on a DVD player with TV and its 100% quality
i put exact the same setting what you say before!!!!

You don’t need to shoot progressive to render progressive. Perhaps this person did render as 24p in which case it would look fine on a PC or TV because it’s not interlaced. You can render to 24p and see if it gives you the look that you want.

I really don’t know. Send an email to our sales office and they can tell you. All of our DVD’s are NTSC and not PAL so make sure that you can play them (or play them on your PC)

i have maked a test with 24p and loocks better but i dont know that the setting (project settings) and the rendering settings is right
i using the following project setting

after the vegas rendering the stream loocks great
after the DVDA rendering loocks better

when i move the camera from left to right and form right to left loose quality from stream
its loocks like the stream jumps and not focused why????

I believe we covered this before… you have to STOP changing the default settings!!! PAL video is not progressive nor is it 24fps. PAL is interlaced lower field first at 25 fps. This is what your camera shot… this is what your project should be using. Just selected the standard PAL DV (720×576, 25.000 fps) project setting and don’t change a thing.

Your next problem is that PAL doesn’t support 24p. It’s not part of the DVD standard. NTSC supports 60i, 30p and 24p. PAL only supports 50i and 25p. I could not even get the MainConcept MPEG-2 encoder to make a PAL 24p file so I have no idea how you did this. The only valid progressive option for PAL is 25p.

What you should do is change the PAL 25fps MPEG2 settings to progressive and get 25p. I did a little test and DVD Architect seemed to be OK with the PAL 25p file that I made. It did not say it would recompress it. So your best option is to use the MPEG-2 DVD Architect PAL video stream template and go into the Custom… options and change the Field order: None (progressive scan). Then save this new template as DVD Architect PAL 25p video stream and render with it.

This is probably from rendering 25fps footage at 24fps without telling Vegas to just slow it down 4%. Just use 25p and you should get the deinterlaced results that you want on both your PC and DVD.
