Ways for a matte
Posted by Carlos E. martinez on March 13, 2006 at 10:12 pmA friend of mine suggested importing one frame onto Photoshop to use as the base to build up my matte around for my graduated ND.
So now the stupid question: how do you export one single frame from Avid Xpress?
Perhaps this way we can go one step at the time until I learn how to work with these things.

March 13, 2006 at 10:38 pmload your footage into the source monitor and plop on the frame you want to export and i believe you go to clip freeze frame and set a duration, after that, select the freeze frame and “export” out as a “graphic” and you can then choose the format. in your case select photoshop. that is it.
hope that helps -

March 13, 2006 at 11:15 pmWhen I try to export the single frame, I keep getting an “Illegal instruction error”, even if the settings seem to be fine.
What may be happening?

March 14, 2006 at 4:12 amYes. Then I pick a graphic output, Photoshop or any other, leaving on the buttons the Help asks to be. And keep getting that Error message.
It seems to refuse to output a graphic file, because it accepts all the other ones.
Is it something I am doing wrong?

just mark an in+out around your frame, right click, export. Check the options again.
use marks -enable
color levels- doen’t matter in this instance -
