Waving piece of paper with text
Posted by Michael West on January 24, 2020 at 3:55 pmGood morning all:
I am cobbling together a title sequence for the Shakespeare play “As You Like It”. One of the pieces of business is a character hanging a bunch of love letters all attached to a single string, like laundry on a line. Can you offer some advice about how to create the pieces of paper, waving gently in the wind, attached to the string? I have seen some Motion projects with flags, but they have a consistent flutter/waves. Any help is appreciated. MichaelMichael West replied 6 years, 3 months ago 2 Members · 9 Replies -

“waving gently in the wind
and
a consistent flutter/waves”?

January 24, 2020 at 9:33 pm“Waving gently in the wind” would mean the “paper” isn’t just a series of waves rolling in the same direction, at the same pace and spacing. There is something I once saw in AE using the ‘cloth’…doohickey (my interaction with AE was brief). Imagine sheets hanging on a line, outdoors, as the wind blows them dry. They don’t all move in the same way.
I hope that makes sense.
Cheers.

Once again, thank you for all the help you have provided over the years.
I am still using Motion 5.3.2 due to issues I’ve had with other upgrades.
“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”.
I am an amateur editor/videographer and can’t afford upgrading every time Apple say ‘jump’.Should you have a version of the playbills project that works with my version, I would bemost appreciative.
Thanks.

January 24, 2020 at 10:32 pmIf you open one of your Motion projects in Text Edit and let me know the “ozml” and “display version” numbers that you are seeing, I can edit the project so you can use it.

January 25, 2020 at 8:58 amHopefully this version will work – it’s usually possible to revert to an older version by editing these values (assuming you’re not using any of the new features). Unfortunately I don’t still have Motion 5.3.2 to check if this will indeed work.
