I have an mp3 waveform up on the screen…
I put some markers up at specific points…
    I save the mp3 file…
I look on the screen and waveform has shifted right about a tenth of a second…
    OR the markers shift left…

This has been happening since I started using soundbooth in cs4… and continues in 5

    Any clues as to why??

I\’m no expert but mp3s are compressed files and my guess would be that it has something to do with that. To preserve quality, you should open the mp3 and after making any changes or adding markers you should save the file as an asnd file and keep working on that until you are ready for your final output as this won\’t reduce the quality then, only save again to an mp3 when you get to your final output. But, if you can use a file format like wav that may keep the overall quality higher than continually compressing with mp3

Yes you are correct… wav files don’t shift like the mp3 files. thank you!

Since the mp3 waveform shifts over about 1/20th of a second it leaves the markers in the wrong place. So is there any way of shifting the whole waveform over by that amount WITHOUT shifting the markers?

I tried adding silence to the beginning of the file but it shifts the markers with it.
