Walter…? on how you capture DVCPRO-HD with HDV DECK
I’ve seen posts where you say you capture HDV to DVCPRO_HD with your Sony M15U controlling it with firewire since it lacks rs422.
did this work with the device control set for Firewire or HDV?
A friend of mine has the M25U and he can’t (I tried as well) capture HD over component to DVCPRO-HD controlling it over firewire. We end up having to use capture now to do it.
I’m wondering if there is something in the M25u preventing this.

The m25U has to be set to dv mode. It still sends HD over analog component, but it changes the deck control to regular dv. You then set your deck control in FCP for firewire dv.

The Deck has to be set up in HDV, but the Firewire output is set to downconvert to DV.
So we’re controlling the deck as DV-NTSC, but we’re sending the Component signal to our Kona 3 (via AJA HD10AVA) to convert to DVCPro HD.
