    Hi.

I am experiencing drastic luma/croma changes when bouncing clips from FCP to shake.

I’ve tried to export the finished shake clips in animation, and DVCPRO HD, same results.

I really like this workflow (and the CC tools in shake as well…), but it sort of does not work… because of this.

    Any suggestions?

Ahhh….keying DVCPRO HD. It isn’t Shake’s fault. I once thought it was After Effects that caused the luma shift. But no, it is the codec itself.

Here is my blog entry on that:

What you have to do is create a HOLD OUT MATTE for the footage. Something that I profess I am just learning and can’t really explain. But what you have to do in essence is create an area in the center of your main footage that is absolutely SOLID, so that only the edging is something that is keyable. I had the luck to know someone who is a Shake guru so he helped me. If you’d like, you can e-mail me and I can provide you with a Shanke Script that has a Hold Out Matte that you can use as an example. The hld out matte moves with your green screen shot, so you could even use my script as a base…possibly. But best to use as an example of what to do.

It was once called a hold back matte , is it now called a holdout?

I’ve always known them as hold out mattes.
