wacom tablet tips, pen tool?
Posted by Jonas Espinoza on December 22, 2005 at 12:19 amwhat dont i get here
i cant seem to get the pen tool to do anything other than make vertices and have bezier curves. is there a setting or some set-up required with my wacom tablet? what i want is to be able to draw lines freely, and then edit them with bezier curves and handles points later. also in general, if anyone has any tips for using a tablet with AE set-up wise and if there any enjoyed techniques. thanks
i have a graphire3

My favorite technique is to clone from one layer to another, or from the same layer, different frame. This is useful to remove rigs and wires from shots, also to remove acne and wrinkles from a model’s face. The key here is to find the best offset that will serve your purpose throughout most of the clip, and finding the best transfer mode for the desired effect. Lighten often removes wires and acne, while Darken is good for filling in a bald spot of hair, or covering up some skin.
Also, don’t forget, you can paint on all channels, or any combination. If you see a problem that only lies on the Blue channel, why not just paint that channel? Also, be aware that you may not want to paint on the alpha, and you can turn that option off if you like. There are a thousand uses for this. Experiment and learn.

December 23, 2005 at 2:39 amSounds like you might be trying to use the paint tools in a Comp window. If you are in a Comp window, you will only be able to move a layer or add and edit points. Make sure to double click on the layer you want to paint, then select the paint tool.
I have a lot of fun with the Brush Dynamics settings in the Brush Tips tab. Pen pressure and tilt can be used to Size, Angle, Opacity etc…too much fun.
Also, if you use the Write-On option, make sure to spin open the Paint layer under Effects. Each stroke can be key frame edited for properties such as roundness, spacing, diameter. You can get some great animated effects this way without a lot of effort.

March 27, 2012 at 4:51 amI’m so glad you posted the Write On and effects twirl down for the wacom tablet for the brush tool, that’s probably one of the ways Digital Juice does a lot of their effects. The possibilities are endless with the grundge backgrounds with the blending modes, WOW!!! The only thing is that it seems like the brush tool is limited with the brushes it has in AE.
I wonder if it’s possible to do that in PS by making an action and using grundge, splat and a whole host of other brushes.
If you know any other stuff like that I would really like to know!!!!!
Thanks!
