VU meter UI for the 3.5mm output jack of Mac?
Aside from using external hardware, is there a UI element of Mac OS or a freeware app that will show me a VU meter for the master mix being exported out of the 3.5mm headphone jack on a Mac?

It’s silly to put your thermosat outside to the control the temperature in your house
You can’t meaure the output of something unless it’s on the output side. You could use the Fcp meters as a guide, but unless you are measuring the output of the jack, you will neevr know what’s coming out of it.
