I open a Quicktime file in VTR Xchange on a MacPro connected to a Kona3. The QT file is loaded on the MacPro hard drive.

There is a working connection to the Sony 1800 HDCam.

The file is an output from After Effects (CS 5.5), Animation codec from an iMac.

I enter the “Mark In” in VTR Xchg and click Edit to Tape. The edit occurs at exactly 0:58:30:00 on the tape deck but the file takes anywhere from 10-14 frames to start running. During those frames there is a freeze of the first frame.

Has anyone seen this before? Is there a solution?

An HD Animation codec file might require more bandwidth than an internal SATA drive on the MacPro may provide; this might be why you see the video stall before the edit. If you have an external disk array with higher bandwidth, you might consider trying the process with the file on that disk array.
