    More audio frustration..

Still haven’t gotten the other isues resolved… Unfortunately nobody here had any suggestions.

Here’s problem… I’m having trouble using the voice over tool in FCP.

I have the correct input selected, the latest drivers/qt/fcp/os installed but i have no levels and nothing records into the voice-over tool.

    I’m confused.

I can’t get the decklink input to work with Peak 4.0 either.

    Any ideas, thanks.

I had some issues when setting up our Decklink Extreme and found this:

    1. The card needs a valid video input (even if you are not recording video) to record audio.

    2. I couldn’t get the Voiceover tool to work with the Decklink card, probably because of 1. above. We now use the Voiceover tool directly into the MAC audio in (you can set up for that in FCP). This works perfectly and has given no problems over about six months of use.

    Thanks for the pointers.

I had experienced the ‘no audio without video input’ problem before. But I checked again and I really can’t get any audio into the v/o tool. I can hear the audio when i open the capture tool. That is how I have been recording lately. You can set your log/capture window to only 1 audio channel and ‘capture now’.

It works fine when I don’t have to record to picture. I have a few half-assed solutions for when I DO have to record to picture… but I want to make this work since the card is SUPPOSED to work with this software feature. It’s silly to find workarounds when it’s just a matter of some tech support info you can’t get your hands on.

    Darn.

Any other suggestions would be much appreciated!

    Thank you.

As I said in my previous post we use the MAC’s audio input for just the V/O tool. This gives full funtionality including working to picture. All you need is the right patch lead and output from your mixer.
