PP doesn’t seem to recognize audio input when I use the mic ports on my Dell Precision 650 Dual Xeon 2.66 GHz with XP pro SP1.

Question: I just bought a nice mic and was wondering if anyone had some suggestions for a sound card.

M audio makes this firewire solo but I fear that Premiere Pro won’t recognize a strictly firewire interface…

I’m not sure the most I’ve been able to tell is that ASIO is important..

just wanting to smoothly do VO in premiere pro… it seems as if final cut is happy just using the camera mic.

I have done voiceovers in PP using the camera but I’ve only figured out two ways to do this. 1.) record onto tape and then capture and drage into timeline. 2.) capture only audio and then drage to timeline.

My results have been fair at best.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Sincerely,
    Paul

Often the problem is with Windows audio settings in Control Panel. Try using Windows Sound Recorder to configure and test your PC, then Pro should work fine.

Thanks for your reply. What about experience with the firewire interfaces (i.e. M audio) does the VO work with that or does one need to install a sound card?

The M_audio device says it supports ASIO 2.0 is that compatible with PPro 1.5?

    Thanks again for your help.
    Sincerely,
    Paul
