i like to have two views open, one a top or side view and one a camera view, so i can easily manipulate layers in 3d space in the top view, and see it updating live in the camera view to make sure my design isn’t going wonky.

when i select the top-view viewer window, the layers i had selected in my timeline deselect. so then in order to tell which layers i want (out of the 50 or so mess in the top view) i have to select them again in the timeline, so they highlight themselves in the top view. i can then drag them around.

i’m sure 6.5 didn’t do this silly deselect thing. it’s really frustrating me.
    any way around it?

    thanks!
    scott.

It sounds like you’re “clicking-off” when you select the top-view window.

If you click on a selected layer does this still happen? What about with SHIFT?

I actually can’t understand why you’d even have to select the top-view window. Just grab the selected layers and pull them around.

i have to select my other viewer because it keeps getting hidden behind other windows, mainly my project window and effects window, which are on monitor 01, with my timeline and main viewer taking up all of monitor two.
also, if my top view viewing window isn’t in the right place, i have to pan around using the hand tool to find my layers SO that i can grab them.

i think i have to select the viewer by clicking on it’s frame (where the max/minimize/close controls are), not in the viewer itself. just a silly ae7 workflow issue i guess. there are lots of them.
