viewing timecode on proxies from XDCAM

If you’re going to make files, why not just burn in a TC window burn in the process? I’ve been doing this for client approvals for a long time, and it sure seems to fit the bill.

Jerry, I think he is referring to the proxies the camera creates. (optical media)

I’ve had the same thing come up. Fortunately, I work for a company where I’m able to dictate the player in most cases.

Sony makes software for reading these proxies…but it’s only for PC. (and it needs written from camera) as opposed to copied from xdcam transfer.

Luckily on Mac snow leopard, qt7 is a free download.

Do you mean like XDCAM browser? You need the XDCAM codec to read these files…whereas with the proxies, it’s h264.

Thanks, all, for your comments. What I’m doing is having the client watch the proxies in Quicktime 7 so he can select the timecode option from the pulldown in the time window. This is working great. He didn’t want to use XDCAM Browser or some other separate application. Again thanks for all your responses.
