viewing object OVER grey default background rather than invisable

    Hi..

I am having problems animating a car traveling in out out of scenes. I just don’t know where it will come into view accurately because I can’t see it. Is it possible to place an object in front of the default grey “off the film/video sequence drawing board area” so to speak, rather than invisable and behind it. I would like to see the cars before the enter the stage.

    Hope that makes sense!!

You should see a wireframe representation of the layer bounds when it’s outside the composition boundaries.

If you want to be able to see the layers then I’d recommend making a comp-sized solid, then increasing the size of your composition, making another comp-sized solid (at the new larger size) and using the original solid as an Alpha Inverted Track Matte for the new solid. Then lower the opacity on the new solid and set it as a Guide layer. You can then do your work in this composition and drop it into a properly sized composition when you’re ready to render.

Let me know if I need to clarify anything.
