    Guys,

I have seen this kind of effect (transition) everywhere, but I have no idea how to do it.

If you look this video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijnjRfhmmY4

on the 6secs, and 1:48 marks you will see a redish transition. Something very organic. This effect must to be some kind of preset or bought clips, because they all look similar in all the movies that I see it in use.

    Thanks guys…

The transition looks to me to be a relatively basic ‘flash wipe’
You would either create your own 1-1.5 second organic image with some movement to it using the colors you would like. Then, place the image
on your timeline over the area you want the transition to occur. Fade it in over 5-10 frames then fade out in 5-10 frames. Where the customization occurs is you will want to play with some of the compositing modes to see which looks best, you may also want to apply a glow to your ‘overlayed’ image to help ‘blow out the color’ some so your transition is more seemless. Lastly, fade the two scenes you want the transition to occur with, between each other over 5-10 frames as well, so your eye does not pick up an obvious ‘cut’ underneath your “flash” transition.

    Hope that gets you close.

    Ray –
Scott is right – while it is one of your “basic” transitions, the element used for the “flash” part can make a huge difference. You generally want the color and luminance levels of the flash to be quite a bit brighter than the underlying cuts. You can put the flash layer in Additive mode, so that the overlaying pixels add their values to the underlying video, enhancing the glow of the effect, and hiding the cut better.

If I were to guess, the clip you were referring to is using a piece of classic film “noise” as the overlay. It looks like the effect you would get when shooting 8mm color film just after the leader, or between shots. It’s that noisy, overexposed look that makes for a great transition. Actually, I do believe that it’s FC127 clip on the Artbeats Film Clutter reel. If you go to:

    https://www.artbeats.com/collections/160?page=3

You can judge for yourself. These are pretty easy to make from scratch using some of AE’s Noise settings and the Tint plugin, with the addition of a little glow. Noise is a very deep-featured module, and if you spend a couple of hours playing around and saving presets, you’ll have a toolkit that no one else out there can buy. Good luck.

Joseph and Scott, you guys are 100% right. Thanks so much for your help. Joseph, the clips on artbeats are exactly what I have seen everywhere, but as you said, I will try to make my own. thanks guys..
