Video size issue HELP!!
I have a screen capture video that is 850 by 725. I then changed my sequence settings to custom 850 by 725. When I import the video, it compresses the height of the video and the black background appears on the top and bottom. It causes the text on the screen capture to render blurry. I have searched everywhere trying to find an answer to this problem with no luck. I am assuming it is something in the sequence settings but I cannot get anything to work. Please help!

What codec are you using? DV? HDV? Something else? Not every video signal has square pixels, I assume this is the problem. Try setting it to something like Animation or Motion JPEG as the sequence setting.

The screen capture codec is H264. I tried several different codecs but nothing is working (source video and sequence ). The text is clear before I import it into final cut. The problem is that final cut is changing the height of the video when it is imported. The actual video does not have black bars on the top and bottom but when I import it into final cut, it shrinks the actual video height from 750 to about 630 causing 120 pixels of the canvas background color to display on the top and bottom. The video will export 850 by 725 but it will look like it is widescreen when it shouldn’t be I would assume that since final cut is changing the height, it is causing the video to display poorly but I cant find what is causing this.

H.264 is a codec using a macroblock compression algorithm – which means its movie-frame pixel dimensions should optimally be divisible by 16, or at least by 4, for the macroblocks to be defined correctly. -
What would be an appropriate codec for this size? I have tried several with the same result. (Animation, Sorenson, Motion JPEG, Video etc.)
