I’ve got a keyed out talent and a background in an AE CS3 comp. I’ve got the key pretty darn close to perfect using Keylight, but in some shots it’s shifted the color due to using the despill bias when needed. It’s to a point where it’s noticeable. At first I tried rendering the talent separately from the background as “lossless with alpha” so I could CC in Final Cut, but once it’s ported into FCP there’s an ugly dark line around him. Looks awful compared to the compositing done in AE.

So now I’m figuring I’m going to have to use Color Balance in AE, but I’m used to using video scopes. Does AE have a video scopes tool? If not, is there anything in AE that could help along those lines? Maybe a workflow technique between AE and FCP that I’m not aware of?

Have you tried using the scopes and other color correction tools in Color Finesse, which comes with After Effects?
