  • Video Renders into Pieces instead of one big file?

Posted by Stephen Kendall on November 20, 2011 at 2:23 pm

I am trying to render a 44 minute video into an .avi file. I have renderd tons of shorter videos (5-10 mins) with no problem. However, when trying to render this bigger movie it gives me 3 seperate .avi files for the 1 project. Is there a limit on the size of the file it outputs?

Thanks for any help on this!

My guess is that the drive you’re rendering to is formatted as FAT32.
Change this to NTFS and your problems will go away.

The only limits are the ones imposed by the file system – NTFS can address 16Tb files, which is large enough to hold every DVD title you own in one file.
If the pieces are about 4Gb each then you are using a FAT-32 partition.
