Video Quality Problems during playback and export
I am working in PP 2.0 in a Blackmagic MJPEG 4X3 project. 98% of the footage I brought in from Beta through the Multibridge Extreme. I noticed that anything I had applied effects to within Premiere Pro looked a little “soft” on my monitor after rendering and playback fom the timeline. Speed changes to clips, color corrections, luma corrections, those sort of effects. I figured those would dissapear on the final output, chalking them up to realtime preview issues. I exported to an uncompressed AVI to render down all the titles and effects, then rendered that AVI to DVD from the timeline. The AVI looked prety crisp and the text was clean on the titles, but after going to DVD the motion based titles were blurry and the clips with effects, especially the couple that were sped up, were soft. I exported the project to DVD using the NTSC DV 4X3 High Quality Preset CBR 7MB, Lower field.
Another thing I was wondering about is when I dropped in an animation I rendered out from AE 7, lossless with alpha, the portion of the clip that was above another clip on a track below it, became soft. As soon as the clip below stopped the animation was clear. Is that normal? The resolutions matched, both NTSC D1, no effects applied to either clip.
Are there any good references out there for the proper output of a project for best results. I’d really like to better understand the different variables when outputting projects to AVI, DV AVI, DVD, etc.
