    Hello

I’m new at using Sony vegas 6. I’m trying to preview my video on the tv monitor and it does it ok. My question is how do I get the audio and video to preview in the tv. I’m only getting the video, but not the audio.

    Thanks for your help

Audio needs to come from your soundcard’s output as it doesn’t get passed via firewire (to an external monitor, that is).

Unfortunately, this is still the case in Vegas 7a (I was hoping they would update that in V7).

On the plus side, it appears in Vegas 7 you can now sumultaneously preview on external monitor as well as the computer preview window.

Another option (assuming your camcorder does pass through) is to firewire it to your camcorder and then use the analog outs to feed your monitor/TV.

How will that give you audio during a Timeline Preview?

That is normal. If you really want, you can run a line from your sound card to your TV and then it will play there. Normal is audio coming from the computer speakers, though.

Don’t think the camera would work. Problem’s that the audio isn’t being encoded into the firewire stream for monitoring.
