  • Video of clip will not go into timeline?

Posted by A.lee on August 15, 2005 at 1:01 am

    hi there-
I’m stuck. When I try to put clips from one certain tape into my timeline, only the audio drops in. for some reason, the video will not INSERT. Even when I try to drag the clip down, the video portion will not stay?

This is the case for only this tape in the bin.

    thanks for your help.

If you’re sure you don’t have the track on the timeline locked, and that both columns of V1, V2, V3, etc. are lined up correctly on the left side of the timeline…

    1. Quit and Restart FCP, try it again.
    2. Trash the FCP Preferences, try it again.
    3. On the offending Clip(s): Make Offline (to Trash) then Batch Capture clip(s) again.

Just curious- are you sure you captured the video of this clip? In your browser scoll over to the column labeled “tracks” and make sure it says “1v, 2a”.

I’ve checked about locked tracks, v1, a2, restarting FCP and the whole ystem. I would trash preferences, but I don’t think that could be the problem. It is only with this tape. The video has definitely been captured. It is definitely there. I used the video from the tape to edit a whole segmenta few days ago.. Now, no matter where I try to use the video, it won’t STAY? hmm. Again, the audio will go into the timeline, but the video, nothing shows up. any more thoughts?

    thanks in advance..

this is what it looks like: ( notice the negative number on the media end column? and the blank spot where it should say, DV/DVCPRO….

    looks like something strange happened.
