Video not showing on MXF clip dropped into timeline

March 28, 2022 at 8:25 pmHello there…
I’m running FCPX 10.4.6 on my IMac which is running Mojave 10.14.6.
I dropped a 20 GB MXF file that is barely over a minute long into my timeline that supposedly has both video and audio.
No video is showing.
When I click on the info icon it shows nothing for video roles but indicates audio roles.
Is it actually possible for a minute long MXF clip that is 20GB to be ONLY audio?!
Thanks in advance,
Scott

You possibly don’t have the right codecs to support it.Get the name of the camera and convert using AME or whatever that camera software offers.

March 28, 2022 at 10:29 pmWhat Eric says. Most likely, this is a raw codec from wither a Sony or Arri camera. If it’s RAW, it most likely will need to be converted before importing to FCPX.

March 28, 2022 at 10:47 pmJeremy (and Eric), thanks for the quick responses.
Any particular converter you recommend.? I’m not actually editing anything in FCPX…I just need to see the footage for time code info for my colorist.
Thanks again,
Scott

March 30, 2022 at 5:17 pmAdobe AME, iSkySoft, and Resolve.
AME adds timecode as an image overlay.

March 30, 2022 at 5:19 pmI would say Resolve. It’s free and will do what you need.
