Video jumps, flickers, green line
Hi everyone, I’m pretty new to Sony Vegas. I like create original youtube videos by splicing youtube clips together and I’m having a problem with that. I use keepvid.com to download youtube videos to do this, they use a .mp4 format. After downloading and putting them in SV I find some clips (seemingly lower quality) I have no problem running but with higher quality ones the video lags, there is green flashes around the lower half of the screen, and it flickers, but there are no audio problems. It’s frustrating because even Windows movie maker can run it no problem.
I have a Pentium dual core 2 processor, 2 gigs of ram, and run Vista. I’ve turned off media manager and even if I close all my other programs it doesn’t help. I’ve tried rendering the clip in a ton of different formats but none has done anything. And I even uploaded a video on youtube anyway just to see if those problems would go away, but they don’t.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

Vegas does not handle the mp4 format from YouTube videos. You need to encode them into some other format first that Vegas can edit. Otherwise you will never get rid of the green blocks. Use a tool like Super(c) to re-encode them into Huffyuv, Lagarith, MJPEG, DV, or any other codec other than MP4.
