Video in Timeline Renames Itself to Linked Audio on Reconnect?!
So this is pretty bizarre. I’m working with footage from the 5D. Transcoded it to ProRes 422, used PluralEyes to sync the external sound. Linked the external sound to the original footage. Everything is working wonderfully. Fantastic.
Now, I’m on the road right now, editing out of a hotel room, and footage is constantly coming in. So in order to make sure everything goes smoothly and there’s minimal downtime, we’ve got two G-Speed eS drives that have the exact same files on them. With the exception of the drive names, the two are identical. So normally we can just swap one drive out for the other when it has new content and then load the new content on the drive that was just being edited on. It just takes a few clips to reconnect to the media, and everything is fine… Or so I thought.
We just performed one of these drive swaps, but after we reconnected the media, SOME of our sequences had a problem: Both the video and audio track of the original footage were magically renamed to match whatever the external audio linked to it was named. And on top of that, when we try to reveal the clip in the browser with Shift+F, it says it doesn’t exist.
Any idea what’s going on or how to fix it?
