    Hey Creative Cow peeps.

I’m sorta stumped with an effect I’m trying to replicate. In video games when there’s a missing texture and the game’s camera looks out into the void of absolutely nothing being rendered, most games fix it by ‘painting’ the last thing that was rendered over the gap. As you move around the last thing rendered over the frame is kept there, but you can paint over it. Here’s an example –

My question is… How do I replicate this sort of effect in After Effects. An Echo with hundreds of iterations and an offset of -0.004 gets pretty close, but it’s not quite close enough. With Echo it’s constantly updating based on the time of the clip, whereas this effectively takes 1000s of screenshots, and then constantly overlays them on top of each other. Maybe my brain’s not comprehending it right. Can you guys give me a hand?

    Thanks!
