how do i apply a Video FX envelope to a video track? for example, if i want to apply a black and white effect for a few seconds here and there only and the rest of the time keep the original video. is there a way to do that in the same way you adjust the composite level throughout by adjusting points on a line? does this have anything to do with keyframes? im having trouble with that. any newsletters on this topic? thanks.

You would apply any effect to an event on the timeline and would use keyframes to start and end the effect

Split out the small pieces you want black and white. Now add the effect to ONLY that one event. Then you don’t need to worry about the rest of the track or keyframes.
