video file recovery
hi, have just returned from shoot in caribbean, downloaded a lot of files to usb hd attached to laptop….put usb drive then onto g4 in office, …stooopidly deleted a couple of what looked like duplicate files, now have lost all the originals…ok bit of a dumb thing to do but have been doing this stuff for many years, the editing that is not the stoopid dtuff…have since used a couple of software recovery apps such as steller and phot recovery but am getting no viable results, files all seem to be there but cannot open them as they are ‘not movie files’ according to quicktime… some are appearing as unic executeable files …huh?…also not finding good response from these software guys , and each recovery operation takes 1-2 days…am going banannanas!…anyone any bright ideas/ would be much appreciated

hi, sony 10801 hd …..dont think its a prob with the camera, more a recovery format issue…the files played back fine when viewed on location nd the first time when viewed on g4 in studio…only when i ditched a few duplicates did the prob arise….have tried the files on the g4 and also the original laptop thro which they were captured, with same problem………any thoughts?

Just curious as to the format is all as you can sometimes repair p2 clips in camera.
You would have to get the hard drive recovered professionally and even then, it might not be perfect.

What camera is that?
What format?
Is HDV, is XDCAM, is AVCHD,..?
