Every time now when I open a certain Premiere CS5 project, there’s now one P2 (Panasonic HVX200) file missing. Yet, it’s there inside the folder right where it is supposed to be. I’m not even getting the box that asks me to find the file. The only thing I do get is the box where there appears to be rendered files missing. Again, I have no clue as to why I’m even getting this. I tried copying the missing file from another drive (back up files) and that didn’t even work. What is going on here? Thanks.

If the issue is only with one file, (I assume you’ve tried re-importing it?), I would start to wonder if there isn’t something slightly wonky with the P2 file itself.

I’m still having trouble with this. If I manage to open an auto save version, all the files come in. If I go with the latest version, the one I just had open a few minutes before, the blank or red files come up. It doesn’t even ask me where the files are to locate them! But, if I manage to open an auto save, it asks me for the preview files, which I just skip. Then, the whole project opens. Now, even the auto save projects won’t open with all files intact! WTF is going on???? All my files are there right where they have been since the project was started! In most of the Adobe Premiere Pro Preview folders, there’s nothing, no files at all. Is that how they should be? Does the drive have to be a certain size? My hard drives are getting full, but this drive still has 91.8 Gigs on it yet. I need to open this file and complete it!

    Thanks,
    Phil

It doesn’t sound like it’s anything you’re doing from what you’ve said thus far…

Have you attempted to relink the offending file?

Can you clean the media cache in preferences-media? (I’m on CS6-CC, so I don’t recall if that’s where it is in CS5 or not…)
