My company has Vegas 7.0e and I am working through the tutorial. I am in the effects portion that deals with fades. The book (published for Vegas 7) describes 25 fades, but my drop down menu only has 5 and I don’t get the blue line through the video clip when I insert the ‘Composite Level’ envelope. I get a short blue line over the video clip that has an arrow on one end, but I can’t double click on it (opens up a time region)and the line doesn’t even line up with the video clip start location. I have downloaded the latest update. What else can I look for?
    Thanks.

Cathleen, place any two clips/images on the timeline and overlap them.
Right-click the “X” and select “Fade Type”.
That’s where you’ll see the 25 different types.

How are you applying the “Composite Level” envelope?
The reason I ask is that it works properly for me. I can apply it at the Track level or by using the “Insert – Video Envelopes” option.
I get a thin blue line at the very top of the clip that runs the entire length of the timeline.
I can double-click it anywhere to add points.

Here’s another thought. Are you sure you’re grabbing the “Composite Level” envelope line and not the “Opacity” envelope line?
The behaviour of the “Opacity” envelope more closely resembles what you’re describing.

O thank you! The book didn’t go into very much detail, but I did find all 25, and my thin blue line!
