Video Event FX – Turned Off?

I have placed a Video Event FX on a short clip (making it black & white) but the FX is not showing up on the preview window. It is showing up when I render or pre-render. How do I get it to display in preview so I can make adjustments before rendering? (Vegas 5.0)

Turn off the split screen control on the top edge of the preview window.
