Video Dimensions
Hey, everyone. I’m having some trouble with rendering a video of mine. The footage I have to use is 1280 X 720, and when I try to render it at that same video width and height, Vegas tells me that my “render settings do not match my project settings,” and it doesn’t let me render.
So, I go back to change my project settings, but it won’t let me enter a width greater than 800.
Is this because I have an inadequate version of Vegas? What am I doing wrong here?

Have you tried setting your project settings to 1280 x 720? Try the HDV 720 30P setting if you shot at 30 frames per second. Hope this helps, Danny Hays

I am using Sony Vegas Movie Studio + DVD.
When I go to the Project Settings, it gives me a screen with Template options at the top, then below that, Width and Height text boxes, then to the right of that, Field Order and Pixel Aspect Ratio. Below all that is frame rate. There are no settings with the word “HD” in any of those. And when I type it anything higher than 800 into the Width box, it reverts back to 800, as if that’s the highest I can go.
In case this is any more insight, here is more of what I am seeing. So far, I have tried lots of different combinations of these, but none of them have yet allowed me to enter above 800 into the Width box. But maybe I’m not using the right combo. Please let me know if you can help. :S
Template Drop-Down: (choosing these auto changes the width and height to whatever they say in the template description.)

Your problems are stemming from the limitation of the
version of Vegas you are uing.
If you want to have everything at your disposal with limitless
possibilities (especially that you now have an HD camera)..
i would suggest you use the Professional Version of Sony Vegas.Steve Rhoden

Okay, thanks. If I have edited something in the version of Vegas I have now, and then buy the Pro version, will the Pro open the Movie Studio files I have? Or will it not read them?

Okay well, thanks for the help anyway.
I have another really dumb problem at hand now, though. I have a video I’m trying to render, and I have one clip fading into another, but when I render it, the clip it fades into won’t render and the first clip instead just fades into black. I tried rendering just the second clip, and it just won’t render at all. There’s no picture. It’s really frustrating. Any advice?
