    I really want to stop a video clip at a certain point and turn it into a still image so that I can pause on it. Please help.

    Here’s just one of several ways to do it.

    Park your cursor at the desired freeze point.
    Set your Preview window to Best/Full.
    Click the “Save snapshot to file” icon at the top right of this window (looks like a floppy disc).
    Save as JPG or PNG to project folder.
    Split the timeline at this point and move right-hand clip further to the right.
    Insert newly saved image, drop it on timeline at this point and set length as desired.

    Personally, I prefer using a Velocity Envelope and changing the speed to 0% (i.e. freeze frame) at that point.
