    there are a few ways to do this… the way i like, is to use time remapping…

    select the footage (actually it can be a nested comp too) in the comp. then choose layer>time>enable time remapping. a property of time remapping with two keyframes should show up for your footage (or nested comp). don’t touch the keyframes yet, position the play head where you want the footage to freeze and add a keyframe. now you can delete the end keyframe for the time remapping property and the footage will hold on the keyframe you added.

    if you need the last frame to extend beyond the original length of the footage, just pull the end of the footage as long as you need it (time remapping allows you to do this).

    if you need to reset the footage, just click the stop watch for the time remapping property and all goes back to the way it was.
