  • Video Capture using a Canon HV20

Having just purchased an HV20 I cannot capture video from it although my PC recognises the camcorder as I see the HDV/DV caption on the camcorder LCD and it is identified in Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager/Sound Video and Game Controllers as an “AV/C Device. I have tried using MS Movie Maker and Roxio Easy Media Creator 7 Basic DVD Edition, but Movie Maker says that it cannot find the Video Capture Device and Roxio identifies it as a “Microsoft AV/C Tape Subunit Device”, Is it that neither of these pieces of software are suitable or am I making a basic error? Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Hi John,
To digitize from the HV20 on PC
    Use HDV Split, it’s free!

To convert the file if necessary from .m2t,
use MPEG Streamclip free also! Mac or PC versions!

    hope that helps!
