Video Capture Issue
After a long and faithful career, my production computer passed away two weeks ago. Funeral services will be held Saturday at Noon. In the meantime, its loss has left me with an issue I hope one of you could advise me on.
One of my cameras is a JVC GYHD110U, which some consider now a dinosaur, but I still like some of the footage I get out of it. The problem is the camera is Firewire out and now that my computer that died, which had a firewire card, I’m stuck with how to download footage into Vegas to use and edit.
My limited research seems to indicate there is no conversion of firewire to HDMI. Is there any hack around this issue? Or, should I plan on obtaining and installing a firewire card on a new computer?

I have read that some have a work around, but as inexpensive as a firewire card is that’s the way I would go and then it is direct into Vegas as you are familiar with. Just my opinion.

You can get the Firewire cards for less then 10$ on Amazon. Not worth the hassle of workarounds.

Don’t forget to install the Legacy 1394 driver.
Download file from KB29701191. Rt click on ‘Legacy1394.inf’ and install.Good luck g
