I have a 2hr tape that I was capturing into vegas 4, I started it walked away and promptly forgot about it. 13hrs later, the capture autostops and pretty much totally fills up my hard drive….a major oops.

My question is, I want to cut off the end (the last 11hrs)and re-export the file so I can use it later.I don’t really want to have to recapture it.
Does anyone have a recommendation on the best file format to render it too without much or any quality loss? I thought about uncompressed AVI, but I know those files are huge as well.

    thanks for any help!

Assuming you captured DV-AVI, drop that 2 hours on the timeline and render to DV-AVI. Since you’re making no changes, it will simply COPY that section of the file to a new file. Then you can delete the huge file.
